Gundam Eclipse SUMMER WAR 2012 Contest June 1, 2012 - 11.59 PM November 4th, 2012 ![]() This is our second year doing this and GE's third year alive, so we're kicking things off with a bang! What do you have to show and prove to the Gunpla community? If you have an idea or something that you want to do with a kit you have, DO IT! This is your chance to shine! The 2012 Summer War is officially an international competition! Where do you stand amongst your peers around the world? Donations toward shipping costs for the competition are still appreciated, though its not mandatory. (http://gundam-eclipse.net/pages/sw_donate/) Like last year, all you have to do to enter the competition is create a WIP thread in this section (http://gundam-eclipse.net/forum/1688280/) to prove to us that you are starting a new kit or working off an already built kit that has no paint apps or modifications added at all. Be sure to also state what category and skill level you want to enter in as well. YOU MUST PROVIDE A PICTURE OF THE ACTUAL MODEL KIT(S) YOU PLAN TO WORK ON, UNTOUCHED BY ANY PAINT APPLICATION OR MODIFICATION WITH OUR GUNDAM ECLIPSE SUMMER WAR ENTRY PASS ALONG WITH THE DATE & TIME THE PICTURE WAS TAKEN. The Gundam Eclipse Summer War 2012 Entry Pass: ![]() Again, this WIP section will be under moderator and administrator approval so the judges will be able to know about what kit you will be entering. Finally, to submit your finished work, submit it to this section of the Showroom (http://gundam-eclipse.net/forum/1688281/). This section will also be under moderator and administrator approval and will not allow comments until the end of the contest, October 31, 2012. The contest will be divided up into two categories, Out-of-Box (OOB) & Modified. Within each of these categories are two sub section, intermediate and advanced. This so that beginners dont have compete against advanced modelers. The only difference in the sub categories is skill level of modelers entering. Contestants may pick which category they want to enter, however if the mods deem a build to be too advanced, it may be moved up to the advanced category. The only criteria you need to consider when deciding to enter advanced or intermediate is your won skill level. Judging Criteria & What You Should Aim For OOB - Intermediate: OOB category for beginner modelers. Emphasis is placed on seem line, nub, and flash removal. OOB - Advanced: OOB category for advanced model builders, overall quality of finish and creativity of paint will count more in the section. Modified - Intermediate: Modified category for beginner modelers. Modified - Advanced: Modified category for advanced model builders. THE RULES FOR ADVANCED AND INTERMEDIATE ARE THE SAME. THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS THE SKILL LEVEL OF PEOPLE ENTERING. If your new to the gunpla world, enter intermediate, if you have a lot of experience, join advanced! The judging rubric will be based of off the one used for the Gunpla Builders World Cup:
There are specific rules for each of the categories: RULES FOR THE CONTEST You have the chance to win one of the many prizes provided by our gracious sponsors: Bluefin Distribution, Robot4Less, Plamo UK, curtratcliffe, Model Grade, and Gundam Planet. ![]() PRIZES* Grand Prize: • A Master Grade that will be provided in October by Bluefin Distribution • Paint Package provided by Plamo UK OOB - Intermediate Prizes: click to toggle OOB - Advanced Prizes: click to toggle Modified - Intermediate Prizes: click to toggle Modified - Advanced Prizes: click to toggle Confirmed Prizes Include:* Confirmed Prizes: click to toggle In addition to all these new prizes, we will be holding a few random, special giveaways throughout the competition (at least until that stack of prizes runs dry). To join in on that bit of fun, be sure to follow @GundamEclipse on Twitter (http://www.twitter.com/GundamEclipse) and like Gundam Eclipse on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/GundamEclipse). There will be specific instructions regarding how to enter utilizing hashtags and likes/shares/comments. |

So I can't enter in a conversion kit that I've already cut the excess resin nubs off of? Cause I did that like 3 months ago and haven't touched the kit since. |

Would entering the intermediate and advanced OOB look bad? I've never done seam line removal, but would like to try. |

@Frank: Yea you can. If that's all you did that is fine. When the pass is released, if it's allowed, your thread will be approved. If it's been deemed worked on (like really worked on) you'll be pm'd. I'm 95% sure you'll be fine. @Horatio: I don't see why not. Just remember, lack of seamline removal loses points. Ok so I am a beginner. However I get the jist of painting now and have proceeded to hand painting. However for my plan on my entry for the Summer War I wanted to combine a few Age line kits into a special custom. Now I know kit basing is for non intermediates but lets say I kit bashed anyway could I enter it in intermediate? I am a newbie so I don't know what seam line removal is like (maybe show me a picture or video of what you mean) but I do know nub removal. I have sanded my recent MG Age-1 Normal. Anyways I am excited for this contest.

There's 4 categories, and your plan would fall into modified intermediate. Seamline removal is getting rid of the seamlines on the kit (the seamline between two halves of leg armor for example). Edited by TaurusOxford, May 22 2012, 10:24 PM.

Seam line removal tutorials are in the construction area, along with almost any tutorial you'd need to construct your build. Please keep this topic about the Contest. |

Apologies I understand now. I am now ready for entering. I just need to know what I will be getting next and moving on from there. By getting I mean what I'll be getting myself to work on next incase anybody misunderstood. Edited by FlashX007, May 23 2012, 12:19 AM.

The staff is deliberating whether any of the figurise fall under the mecha category. Technically most of the Riders and the Tiger and bunny stuff are mechanized suits or cyborgs. We want a unanimous decision, so we'll get back to you tomorrow.

No need to wait. The MG Figurerise line will be inelegible for the contest, due to the fact that these humanoid models cannot be judged fairly when placed up against a mechanical robot, even if Riders/T&B powered suits are mechanical as well. |
